K-Swiss to sponsor City of Manchester 10k
Californian running shoe brand K-Swiss is to sponsor this year’s City of Manchester 10k race on Sunday July 4.
The race starts and finishes at the Regional Athletics Arena in Sportcity, taking in a route around the City of Manchester stadium.
K-Swiss has agreed a 3-year deal with race organisers Sports Tours International, their first sponsorship of a running event in the UK.
It also sponsors the World Triathlon Corporation Ironman and the LA Marathon.
Sports Tours International Chief Executive Chris Bird said: “From our point of view this association is tremendously exciting. K-Swiss are a progressive and creative company and we are looking forward to working with them to develop the City of Manchester 10k and take it to another level”.
The race attracts up to 3,000 runners, many of whom raise money for charity.
Nick Grocott, K-Swiss UK marketing manager, said: “This event promises to be a real family affair and we are proud that we are going to be a part of that. We will be continuing to extend and support major running events both globally and on a local/regional basis in the UK throughout 2010 underpinning the brand’s commitment to become a major player in the running category.”
