Meridian to build £4.3m care home

Tameside-based Meridian Healthcare has received planning permission for a new £4.3m care home in Millbrook, near Stalybridge.

The firm is expecting to create around 40 jobs at the new location, which is on the site of a former school. Building work should start this summer, with the home opening in 2011. It will provide accommodation for 45 residents and will offer free wi-fi on site.

Susan Firth, managing director of Meridian, said: Millbrook will be a great example of how to provide long-term care to older people. We’re looking forward to adding it to our portfolio.”

Meridian operates 13 care centres in Tameside, including sites in Stalybridge, Denton and Mossley. It also has site in Leeds, Sheffield and Merseyside.
