Shearings to spend £10m on new coach fleet
By Michael Fahy
Wigan-based Shearings Group has placed a £10m order for 45 new Setra coaches to meet an increasing demand for its coach holidays, the firm said.
The firm placed a similar order with manufacturer EvoBus in April this year and said that many of the new vehicles will be used on its recently expanded European holiday routes. The firm recently added 12 new European itineraries which include holidays to the Italian lakes and new short breaks to Northern France and Belgium.
Chief Executive Denis Wormwell said the firm had been “delighted” with the coaches delivered earlier in the year, which are powered by cleaner Euro 5 Mercedes-Benz engines.
“The vehicles are amongst the newest and greenest in the UK, and, by carrying more people per journey we are reducing overall emissions,” he said.
“Our aim is to provide an even more pleasurable experience for our customers as well as continuing to develop our coach offering across the group.”
