North West Women in Business Awards set for January
By Simon Binns
The Northwest Women’s Enterprise Forum (NWWEF) has announced plans for the third annual Northwest Women in Business Awards, funded by Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA).
The awards give recognition to women in business throughout the North West and will take place on Friday, January 29, at Ribby Hall in Lancashire, The event has also attracted Barclays Wealth as lead sponsor.
Steven Broomhead, chief executive of the NWDA, said: “Women are currently under-represented when it comes to owning and operating their own businesses and are therefore a key target group for increasing enterprise activity across the region.
“The Northwest Women in Business Awards aim to inspire more women to consider enterprise as an option, as well as promoting the significant achievements of the region’s successful female entrepreneurs.”
Elaine Owen, chair of the NWWEF, said: “Female entrepreneurship is growing from strength to strength and it is amazing to see so many women starting and developing innovative and successful businesses in the region.
“These awards have gained momentum over the past two years and are now fast becoming a key event in the business social calendar.”
Former winners have included Greater Manchester-based scientist Dr Sharon O’Kane from Renovo and Debbie Pierce of the Bury Black Pudding Co.
