Manchester Airport gets kudos at forum

By James Chapelard

Manchester Airport’s marketing strategy has been recognised at an aviation industry gathering in Malaysia.

The airport was highly commended in the OAG Routes Airport Marketing Awards at a gala dinner at the 14th World Route Development Forum in Kuala Lumpur.

Athens International Airport and Brussels Airport won the European category while runners up were Brussels South Charleroi Airport, Istanbul Atatürk Airport, Dublin Airport. The World Route Development Forum is organised by Manchester-based aviation RDG Group.

Voting for awards started in early September and was open for one month. During this period airlines nominated their preferred airports using criteria such as the airport’s market research activities and marketing communications activities. The shortlisted airports then had to submit a case study to support their nominations to a panel of industry experts, who chose the winners.
