Astrazenca shares down after court ruling

By Claire Shoesmith

Shares in drug giant Astrazeneca (LSE: AZN) slipped 1.3 per cent after the London-based company said a US court had denied a motion for summary judgment in a patent case concerning its Pulmicort Respules asthma treatment.

Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries had sought the ruling from the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. A court date is now expected to be set for January 2009.

Astrazeneca employs more than 7,500 people at two sites in Alderley Park and Macclesfield.

The shares were at 2,505p in early morning trading.
