By Claire Shoesmith

Astrazeneca (LSE: AZN), the international drug giant that employs more than 7,500 people in Alderley Park and Macclesfield, has appointed Rudy Markham as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Markham was formerly chief financial officer of Unilever. He is currently a non-executive director of Legal and General Group, Standard Chartered and United Parcel Service.

Louis Schweitzer, chairman of AstraZeneca, said: “We are delighted that Rudy Markham has agreed to join us. His considerable experience of over 35 years at Unilever, latterly in finance, will be invaluable to the work of the board and the audit committee.”
