Cartwight Group picks up £1m trailer order

By Michael Fahy

Altrincham-based Cartwright Group has landed am order worth more than £1m for new trailers from family-owned construction and logistics firm Malcolm Group.

The order, for 130 new trailers, will see the firm deliver ten new trailers each week to Malcolm Group's headquarters in Paisley.

Director Steven Cartwright said that it was “important for customers to operate equipment that is designed for maximum efficiency”. Cartwright Group, which turned over £64.3m in the year to March 31, 2008, is based on the Broadheath Business Park in Altrincham but is embroiled in a long-running dispute with Trafford Council about parking restrictions on the estate. The company has said that it will find an alternative home for the business if it is not resolved, which could mean 300 jobs being removed from the borough.

Steven Cartwright recently told Crain's that the firm was still looking at “whether Trafford is the place to be for the long term future of our business.”
