Lockton holds global board meeting in Manchester

By Simon Binns

Insurance broker Lockton International Holdings Ltd is holding its global board meeting in Manchester, the first time the monthly meeting has been held outside of London.

The meeting held today and yesterday, which is being attended by Lockton chairman, David Lockton, and President and chief executive, John Lumelleau, flying in from New York and Chicago respectively.

Directors were also invited to a private dinner party hosted by Sir Howard Bernstein, chief executive of Manchester City Council.

Lockton signed as the first office tenant in the 19 Spring Gardens office building in November, which was developed by Cheshire-based Magnus.

Colin Sinclair, chief executive of MIDAS, who also attended the dinner, said: “As the world’s largest privately owned independent insurance brokers, we are delighted that Lockton has chosen to hold its global board meeting in Manchester, which not only reflects the importance of the city and the Northern region to Lockton but also provides a chance to highlight the unique opportunities that the North holds for the international business.”

Matt Davies, managing partner of Lockton North, said: “Since we relocated our Northern office to Spring Gardens, we have been keen to show off our premises. We are very proud of our new offices, our team and the investments that we have made and this was an excellent opportunity for us to show off a regional office in a great regional city to the rest of the group.

“Further to John Lumelleau’s recent meetings with Sir Howard in both New York and London, we were very grateful for Sir Howard’s invitation to host a dinner for us.”
