Lavender Hotels Group buys Camelot theme park hotel
Bury-based Lavender Hotels Group has saved 80 jobs after buying the 140-room Park Hall Hotel from the administrators of the Camelot Theme Park.
Lavender’s parent firm, Lakeside Collection Ltd, which is owned by Stefan Sikorski, has bought the hotel next to the now-closed theme park in Chorley from administrators Grant Thornton.
Lavender Hotels already owns five properties in Lancashire, including the Bury-based Bolholt Country Park Hotel, the Old Mill Hotel in Rossendale Valley, The Oaks hotel near Burnley and the Everglades Park hotel near Widnes.
“Park Hall Hotel fits perfectly into our group’s portfolio and we are delighted to complete the purchase,” said Sikorski.
“From our initial discussions with the receivers it quickly became clear that Park Hall Hotel had similar facilities and strategies to our existing hotels and leisure clubs and we look forward to building on the hotel’s reputation.”
Administrators Grant Thornton said that discussions regarding the theme park, which was placed into receivership in February, “are still ongoing” but added that it had entered into a period of exclusivity with a potential buyer for the park’s land and assets.
“This is great news for the employees whose jobs have been saved at the hotel, as well as customers who had bookings for the summer,” said the firm’s Manchester-based joint administrator Les Ross.
