NWDA awards £140,000 grant to computer games firm

By Michael Fahy

The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) has announced that it has given a £140,000 award through its Grants for Business Investment scheme to help Nottingham-based Monumental Games set up in Salford Quays in the offices previously owned by Swordfish Studios, which was sold by its former parent in November.

The agency said the move not only safeguarded 23 existing jobs at the site, it would also help to create a further 32 jobs by 2010.

Monumental Games’ Chief Operating Officer Paul Mayze described the grant award as “commendable”, adding: “We look forward to working with them over time to exceed our own expectations for growth.”
