Dutch may scupper Manchester bid for Glasgow Airport

Manchester Airports Group will have a beat off a rival Dutch bid if it is to win control of Glasgow Airport.

Schipol Group, which runs Amsterdam's international national, said it has a "definite interest" in buying Glasgow from current owners BAA.

The Dutch state-owned company is likely to want to use the airport as a feeder for international flights from its Schipol hub.

MAG has already registered an interest. BAA has been told by the competition authorities to sell either Glasgow or Edinburgh airports.

Manchester-based Peel Holdings, which owns Clydeport, operators of the Port of Glasgow, has also been named in media speculation as a possible bidder.

Glasgow is likely to sell for between £500m and £700m.
