Bodycote makes first acquisition in France

Bodycote has bought Toulouse-based materials testing laboratory Centech for an undisclosed sum, according to a statement issued at the Farnborough Air Show today.

The Macclesfield-based engineering group said the deal was its first acquisition in France.

Centech’s customers include Airbus, French jet engine maker Snecma and General Electric Aircraft Engines and its services include mechanical testing, machining and failure analysis of metallic and composite materials.

Sean Kerr, Bodycote Testing's managing director Europe, said: "The acquisition of Centech, with its close links with Airbus France, not only dovetails perfectly with our existing business, but gives us further opportunities for expansion into the European market."

In May, Bodycote put its thermal testing business up for sale with a price tag of at least £400m.
